Contrary to what some people would have you believe. Life is not complicated! People just make it so. Truth is our model for what actually exists. We come into contact with new truths every day. Like lots of pieces in a very elegant and beautiful jigsaw. When we stumble across new pieces we should easily be able to slot them in with the pieces of truth we have already assembled. No problems there. One jigsaw, and the bits should fit nicely. The jigsaw makes a mind-map which we use to navigate our world. If the map is accurate we can navigate without too many problems, and we can be happy. If our maps are inaccurate, naturally we find it difficult to navigate our lives.
Problem arises when some people hand us pieces from other jigsaws. And of course they don’t fit with what we have already. But the people told us they were bits of the truth jigsaw, and we, being a bit trusting, took them at their word. And not surprisingly we get a bit confused when things don’t make sense. The way to make our life jigsaw make sense is to eliminate all the wrong pieces and only use the bits that are true. And only then can everything slot neatly into place.
Sometimes we meet people who have more accurate and expansive jigsaws than ourselves. These people can teach us by improving our maps. But...when one of these guides very kindly comes to us and says, “Actually, I think you’ll find things work out better if you just discard this bit, this bit and this bit.”, we feel a little bit bossed about (even though our guide was trying to help us), and we can cling stubbornly to the wrong bits of jigsaw, as we feel embarrassed at admitting they were the wrong bits all along. And clinging to our wrong pieces, things in our lives continue not to fit.
Now...imagine a way of living based on truth.
Tailored to be exactly what you have actually witnessed to be the truth. And nothing else.
Imagine it…
Your very own personal belief system, and you are the one who chooses what to put in it. You are not told by any one else. Not by clergymen, nor politicians, scientists or anyone else.
You can call it a religion, or a philosophy; its title doesn’t matter, it’s the way it is lived which counts. You can pick anything you like to go in it, provided it’s true. And anything proved false is naturally discarded. Without any fussing and fighting. Call it “Truthism” if you want a label, call it nothing if you don’t. Your mind has discovered the ability to absorb new information. Truths which you are yet to learn can be welcomed in by your open mind – you have eliminated your ego. You don’t feel threatened any more by looking foolish for changing your mind. You realise it is more foolish to adhere rigidly to an out-dated and incorrect way of thinking. If something comes along which is right – it’s in: if it doesn’t make sense – why would you follow it? That would be daft. If we invented our own religion like this, by its very definition, it can’t possibly be wrong! Nobody to tell us what to include – truth stands alone – it just is. And we don’t need to force our truths on others – truth is universal – imagine that. How could any of us ever fall out again?
