If we lift the phone to talk to that relative who seemed a bit down in themselves, because they’re exhausted from campaigning to save the rainforests – when we ring them to check they’re ok, that’s giving love.  Then the campaigner feels better and can focus their love on the campaign, to enlighten people as to what’s going on in the world.  Giving their love.  Then maybe people will exercise self discipline and really try hard to listen – listening is love.  Then the people just might  learn and vote for something ore important than the self interest of reducing taxes – to vote for a more ethical government – people giving love.  The government then starts to act, and begins to actually enforce laws which prohibit the import of illegally logged mahogany, say.  Then the illegal logging companies, run by people who are taking, and not giving love to the rest of the world, then these companies go out of business, and the forest is saved.  The love can be followed to a quantifiable result in the number of rainforests left standing.
