Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is a film about the ancient Chinese way of life, Taoism (or Daoism). In English it roughly translates as The Way. If you’re interested in the meanings behind the film, you’ve found the right place. BUT!!! To understand Tao, you can not be handed all the answers! If we are given all the answers we lose the ability to discover things for ourselves. So to empower us, the Taoist Masters will refuse to give us all the knowledge. It is a curious paradox, but like the Way, it is true. There are a few clues here, here and here.
