desire combine here.  For example, women are often attracted to men because of their minds – “okay, so you’re a rocket scientist!”  Intelligence is attractive because it is likely to enable the intelligent person to protect themselves and their family and so pass on their genes.  Therefore having an accurate and expansive mind map, makes one desirable to the opposite sex.  A potential partner will identify an intelligent person as someone who is a safe bet for passing on their genes.  So science, and evolution and sexual desire combine, and soon begin to take in Tantra.
When a scientist (or anyone else for that matter) observes the Universe, they are uniting with the Universe; becoming one.  The Universe created us, and by interacting with it in a totally naturally way, we are being at one with our Universe.  We are following Dao.  Evolution itself drives us on to observe that which caused us to evolve.  In fact, we are the Universe.  The atoms inside our bodies are just as correctly part of the Universe, as any amount of space debris or star-dust.  We are the Universe, which is observing itself.
So the observation of the Universe is a completely spiritual connection.  And in Tantra, it is the connection between two souls through sexual meditation where that spiritual connection is occurring.  Now, in sex, both partner is in fact one part of the Universe, and therefore each is interacting with another part of the Universe.  So…sexual experience is no different from science.  It is another connection with the Universe.  Another connection which was created by evolution.  With Truth there can not possibly be any contradictions.

See the NASA scientist.  The remote probe enters orbit around one of the moons of Saturn.  And on the large screen in the control centre, the first close-up photographs steadily appear in front of the scientists, technicians and cleaners.  They stand quietly staring up in anticipation as line after line fill up the screen with new images.  About to see something which no human has ever seen before.  Going where no-one has gone.  The eager anticipation and adrenaline are tangible.  See the awe on their faces as they witness a new exotic volcano which nobody knew existed.  They are connecting.  The Universe is entering their spirits and filling them with its beauty.  And these people get deeply moved by its beauty.  Scientists are certainly not the soul-less number-crunchers which some people would like to make out.  Scientists are at the cutting edge of the spiritual development of the species.

It is all very beautiful and miraculous.

But there are just a couple of things to bear in mind.  Firstly, in the excitement of discovery it is easy to get distracted from things which are arguably of more immediate concern – for example protecting our world from global warming.  There is no sense in salivating over pictures of far off megallanic gas clouds brought to us by the Hubble Telescope, when the rising tides are lapping at
