campaigning for a good cause and one soon receives hostility; the persecution of love is there all the time in our everyday lives. We persecute vegetarians, we persecute Jehovah’s Witnesses, we persecute environmentalists by ridiculing them as “tree-huggers”. Righteous people make us feel inadequate, so instead of us behaving like adults, we often choose to dismiss them. This is another example of how the healthy loving people are in the minority and are perceived as “mad” by the truly irrational majority – exactly as McMurphy was perceived in Cuckoo’s Nest. This is the same phenomenon which John Lennon was describing when he said:
