How To Be A Jedi Knight
Luke Skywalker went into his final run against the death star. To deploy two missiles into a gap the size of a post box; the only way to set a chain reaction to destroy the evil empire’s ultimate weapon, the Death Star, and restore peace to the galaxy. Monitored by his command station he steered along the steel canyon.
“Use the force Luke”.
Obe Wan’s voice echoed out of the ether. Luke listened. He switched off his guidance computer. His command centre were stunned at what he was doing. He seemed mad. But he let the force flow over him. He steered from his subconscious mind and fired when the feeling came. Switching off the computer was the same as switching off the Ego - the conscious mind which takes us away from our natural connection with the Universe. Luke was following The Way or Tao. The Force and Tao have many similarities. Did George Lucas know of the Tao? He actually did take his inspiration from the ancient chinese martial arts, and Taoism is a closely related oriental practice. To be a Jedi Knight then, the best bet (on earth) is simply to know the Way.
So The Force does indeed exist. Its striking similarities to the Tao (or Dao) were first described in Lao Tzu’s Tao de Jing, a few thousand years BC Tao or Truth (or The Force!) is explained in greater detail throughout this web site. So much in common - tales of Taoist masters who can levitate by altering their qi, and others who can levitate objects.
